Community Service - Help the elderly

The community service is going to have their event on the coming Tuesday, 24th August 2010. This activity is to feed, interact and wheel the elderly. If you are interested in joining please meet at Serangoon MRT station at 1.45pm on the day itself. The venue of the activity is at Society for the Aged and Sicked. Welfare Proudly Presents: CSCC GAMES DAY!

Excitement will be ahead of you when you join the Games Day on 7 August 2010 (Saturday). It will be at FC5, lasting from 10am to 6pm. Lunch will be provided and all you have to do is to bring along an extra set of clothing. Girls, make sure you wear dark clothing because there may be water games!

Only $3 fee is required for the games. In addition, there will be a $5 voucher to be won!

Students and alumni have shown that they have what it takes to make a mark in not only the local music industry but in the other Asia music industries as well.

Many potential singers are hidden in the midst of Singapore Polytechnic population. Therefore we urge you to join us in this year’s much anticipated SP STAR that will be held on Thursday, 26 November 2009, 5pm @ Singapore Convention Centre to unveil the next Taufik, Khairul or Kelly!

SP Star is our poly-wide singing competition, where the top 2 winners of the 9 individual academic school singing competitions will represent their school as they compete to be crowned the champion of SP Star- 2009.

All SP Star contestant would be given a chance to 3-day workshop will be conducted by external professional instructors to prepare and train them for this up-coming performance.

Judges for this competition are renowned personalities from the local music and entertainment industry. All proceeds from the sale of tickets, which are priced at $2 each, would be donated to the Singapore Cancer Society and Simei Care Centre.

On top of the singing competition, you get to watch SP Cheer competition as part SP Star programme this year.

Who will be the next Star and win the top prize of $1000? Which school will have the bragging rights and get to keep the SP Star crystal challenge trophy for a year? What is SP Cheer all about?

Details of CSCC jacket are as follows:

Price of 1 CSCC jacket is approximately $34 or $35, price varies with quantity.
The higher the quantity of jackets ordered, the cheaper it is.

The supplier will only produce the jackets provided that the quota is at least 35-40 pieces because embriodery is expensive.

Design of the jacket is the same as the previous years, there will be a CSCC logo in front of the jacket.

There will be additional charges for embriodery of name on the sleeve of the jacket.
Once again, the price will depend on the quantity ordered.

HELLO CSCC!

Singapore Polytechnic has organised a Raft Racing competition.
SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL WATER FESTIVAL 2009.

The objective of this competition is to promote creativity, innovation and an adventurous spirit among youths in Singapore by providing them with the opportunity to design and construct a three-man raft out of scrap materials and compete for the fastest time for the 100metre course at Marina Barrage.

CSCC hopes to participate in this competition by sending in teams to compete.
Winning teams will be given cash prizes!

If you are interested in representing CSCC in The SIWF Raft Race, please do not hesitate in forming a team of between 3 to 5 people.
Registration for this competition can be made at the CSCC clubhouse.

The closing date for registration is on 9th June 2009,

Secretary
Thanks for the recording of meeting minutes. Your bills must have received a lot of damage from so many sms for the passing down of messages to the Ocs. The indemnity forms that cause your hand to ache. For the sake of our cca points! Hahaha.

Enrollment Team
Really grateful for the wonderful setup of the enrollment place, banner and brochure designs. Your team has shown excellent results and have received good comments from many. Without you, there won’t be any campers for the camp.

Publications Team
Everything from the consolidating of details of everyone, t shirts and photo gift, really appreciated. Sounds simple, but definitely lots of work. Thank you!

Food Team
The horny, cheeky, laughing and sexy team. The campers love you a lot. Especially the macaroni. That was a lie. HAHA. Thanks for the wonderful food throughout the whole camp. Milo, syrup drinks and packet food. Your food keeps all of us moving and energetic! Drink more water and we believe you guys had lost your voices while catching the campers’ attention.

Logistics Team
Thanks for the endless requests for items and equipment. We hope all of you have lost weight, except security guard. HAHA. Thanks for forgiving us when we use harsh words to demand you guys to work for us! Thank you!!!

Audio Team
WOW! Disco night was a blast! The setup was great. The music was fabulous. What more can we ask. Thank you DJs! And the audio support during briefings and performance. Audio rocks the world!

Games Team
Partners-in-crime! Milkshake team! Thanks for the fun games and activities throughout the whole camp. It has been really hard for you all. The effort and time put in was commendable. Forgive us for the pressure we have given you. The campers really enjoyed the camp!

Group Leaders Trainers
Pearly Shell~~ I think both of you are terrified of camp songs now. HAHA. Thanks for presenting to us such a wonderful team of GLs. The 12 GLs.

Games Personnel Trainers
It has been tough on you. No directions to go at first. But it all worked out fine. Thanks for the coordination in camp. And of course, training an amazing batch of ZAI GPs. GPs this year definitely learn a lot from you guys, the camp songs, cheers, giving instruction and coordinating the games.

GPs are you ZAI? LOL. I think all of you answer until sian. But I am really glad to hear such a firm response. You guys have been great in everything. Execution to clearing up to almost every other thing (sai kang). Keep up the good work. This should be present in every other camp, not just FOC. We indeed have a great fabulous group of GPs this year! See the power that outshines the campers during the campfire and the mass gathering. Remember what the seniors have to say. Hungry Vampires! You guys rock!

Fantome’! See what the training has led you all to become. A group of leaders with wonderful abilities. You didn’t disappoint us. Glad you all survived the trainings and the GPs that are out to tekkan you. HAHAHA. Cheers!

Approximately 105 of you! More than GPs and GLs added together. Good to see such a hyper and enthusiastic batch of campers. Really made the camp such a fun & exciting one. Hope you all enjoyed the camp. Especially silent game and nightwalk. HAHAHAHA. Continue to stay bonded with everyone. The camp has ended, the friendship never ends. Aspiration Camp 2008

A 3Day2Night camp was organised by CSCC for its participants from the Down Syndrome Association of Singapore (DSA). The event was a huge success as most, if not all, of the campers enjoyed the camp activities lined up for them very much.

Many smiles were seen throughout the duration of the camp and everyone had fun. These beautiful moments have been captured and CSCC Bloggers shall now present to you…

ASPIRATION CAMP 2008!

FIRST DAY OF CAMP.

The day started at around 10am when the participants checked into camp one by one. After that, the campers were formally introduced to their Befrienders. It was also during that time when the Befrienders got to meet the campers' parents.

The highlight of the day came in the afternoon when the campers were brought out of the Singapore Polytechnic compounds to visit the Singapore Discovery Center.
Over there, the campers got a private tour around the place. They were given the opportunity to check out and play with many of the interesting facilities like Robot George. There was even a Finger Puppet Making workshop where the campers were taught how to make their own finger puppets!

SECOND DAY OF CAMP.

The day started fresh with everyone participating in the morning workout. The atmosphere was very cheerful as everyone danced merrily to songs like ShaLaLa.

Overflowing with good energy after the morning workout and breakfast, the campers then moved on to the next activity; An arts and crafts session!
The campers unleashed their creativity when they were decorating the different workpieces given to them. Everyone was busy drawing, colouring, painting and glueing things together.

The next activity lined up for the happy participants was attending a workshop conducted by the Singapore Polytechnic Chinese Orchestra (SPCO) members.
Over there, the campers got the chance to try out the different instruments used by Chinese Orchestras. Creativity was, once again, unleashed as some of the campers made their own tunes and some even sang along to it!

After indulging in the arts, the campers finally got to move about as they engaged in their next activity; The Treasure Hunt.
This activity got many campers excited as they went around the given area searching for hidden bits of paper christmas tree decorations. After the search, the treasure hunters settled down to start on the colouring of the paper decorations that would be displayed on a christmas tree.

A delicious dinner came after the treasure hunt to re-energise the hungry campers.
The campfire followed shortly after dinner. It was a time of great merry as everyone sang and danced in chorus to the various camp songs that they were taught throughout the duration of the camp .

Feeling all hyped up after the singing and dancing from the campfire session, the campers' spirits were brought up to an even higher level when the Disco Party started.
Wearing the hat that the campers themselves decorated earlier in the day, the campers danced and sang and cheered to the rythm of the music that was played through the wonderful audio system of CSCC.

It was a long day for everyone.
The campers were finally put to bed for a good night's rest.

LAST DAY OF CAMP.

The day started off with a morning workout similar to the one on the day before.
After the workout, the campers had a very good sandwich-breakfast. Shortly after breakfast, the campers proceeded on to the next activity; a Mass Game.

The last part of the day, which was also the last part of the camp, was a blast. The campers all went on stage to do a performance for everyone to watch. They danced to the songs ShaLaLa, All for One, and the Barney song.

Saying goodbye is never an easy thing to do.
After the performance done by the campers, various awards were given out to outstanding participants. With that, the camp came to an end.

The participants of Aspiration Camp 2008 made many new friends and had a lot of fun taking part in the various activities lined up for them. This camping experience will definitely be a good and memorable one for all the campers.

Many thanks to the Organising Committee, the various sponsors, the participants themselves and everyone else that had contributed in one way or another, to the success of Aspiration Camp 2008.

SP Star 2008 was a total success! (:

our club, CSCC, was the main organizer of the event, and there was a lot of hustle & bustle as the organizing committee ran around with tons of instructions and backstage work.

kudos to the organizing committee and the other members who came early [8am!] and stayed till late [11pm!], helping out with the goodie bags, backstage work, ushering, reception and etc.

Hi, all beloved cscc members.

CS subcom is having an event on 19 0ctober (Sunday) at Block22, Block23 and Block 24, ChaiChee Road.

For this event, we are attending a karaoke session, interacting with the elderly, enjoying beautiful songs. We will be singing 2 songs( 1 Chinese and 1 English). The 2 songs will be ‘月亮代表我的心’ and ‘Country Roads’. After that we will need help in packing provisions, and sending them to the individual homes of the elderly.

Participants will be meeting in SP at 1pm at T11A on 19 October.
Please wear white top and pants or jeans.
The event will end at around 5.30pm.
CCA points will be awarded.

As we have to present 2 songs for the senior citizens on 19 October, we will be having a singing practice on 15 October (Wednesday) at 3.30pm sharp at Theatre @ Moberly.

Leadership Training Camp 08/09!

the CSCC's Leadership Training Camp recently ended, and 29 members from the different sub-committees ranging from audio, public relations, welfare, cultural and community service got together to bond and learn the roots and depth of being a real leader.

the camp was a blast, and us campers would like to thank the organizing committee for making this whole camp a success and an unforgettable experience.
i can safely say that all of us emerged as strong leaders, knowing the qualities of a true hero and leader through tutorials and real life experiences throughout the four days of the camp.

not everything during the camp was fun and laughter, but we as the toughest of leaders, learnt as we went through morning exercises, games that require teamwork as a whole camp and tons of cheers.
we encountered pathways and difficulties that required all of us to go through it together, and in each camper, there was a leader emerging from deep within.
but as the saying goes, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

Transport will be provided to the Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital however there is no transport back. Dinner will be provided, and participants please bring $3 for the dinner.

Hi, this is just a short update on the mid autumn festival event on the 13th of September.

Please note that the meeting time has been brought forward to 3pm, instead of the previous stated 4.30pm. The event will end at around 10pm; Meeting place and the attire to put on remains unchanged.

Also, dinner will be provided for participants at a maximum fee of $5 per person. Transport from Singapore Polytechnic to the location of the event, Kwong Wai Shiu, is provided. Transport back home, however, will not be provided.

CSCC will be having a mid autumn festival event on the 8th and 13th of September. On these two days participants will be interacting with the elderly and learning physiotherapy. We would be more than happy if people who can come on 8th september can come again on the 13th of september the actual event falls on the 13th of september and the reason why we are visiting Kwong Wai Shiu (a hospital cum hospice )on the 8th of September is to prepare us for the actual event.

On 8th September,the event starts at 9am and ends at 12pm. However, factoring in the traveling time from the station to the Kwong Wai Shiu, participants are to meet at 8:30am sharp at Boon Keng MRT station.

There will be a total of 40 participants including the organizing committee , Koh Jun Xian, Teo Jia Yi , Kia Seng and Stephanie Tan. Those who participate in this event will be awarded CCA points.

Please take note that the attire will be white t-shirt and covered shoes and do have breakfast before coming.

On the 13th of September, participants are to meet at Singapore polytechnic. More specifically, outside SAC near the indoor rock climbing wall. We will be meeting at 4.30pm and the event will end at around 9 or 10pm. There will also be about 40 participants including the four names mentioned above and attire is the same as on the 8th of September. As with on the 8th of September , CCA points will also be awarded.

Please note that one way transport to Kwong Wai Shiu is provided. However, participants are required to take their own transportation back.

ATTENTION!!!

CSCC will be having a lantern hanging event on 30 August 2008. The duration for the event is 10am to 12 noon which last 2 hours. However, we need time to prepare for the event, and so we will be meeting at 9am in Boon Keng MRT Station.
There will probably be 20 members. The 20 members will include Koh Jun Xian, Teo Jia Yi, Stephanie Tan and Ng Kia Seng.
Those who participate in the event will be awarded 1 CCA point.

We would encourage girls not to wear skirts because we'll need to climb up to hang the lanterns. Jeans are not encouraged too as some jeans may be very tight fitting, so it may be inconvenient. It is best to wear shorts or bermudas.
The 20 members MUST wear a white t-shirt.
Please bring along an umbrella as it has been raining a lot these days.

EXCITING NEWS...

So... we're going to have our NYAA Gold Award Application! We're going to sign up as a whole. Those who want to sign up, I need you to go into your SAS system! Login and enter in NYAA application and please enter GOLD. Please enter our club name as well, Community Service & Cultural Club. Please fill in all particulars! and enter OTHERS for the sections. Please remember to print out and give your signature! MUST!

Enter the website, Click onto Levels of the Award and link to Section of the awards. Please read up on what you need to get our award for Gold Applicants.

Please also note that for Gold Applicants:
Gold Award participants are required to prepare an additional report on your experiences in the NYAA Programme. This report is essentially an expansion of the Award Diary. Participants are free to include photographs, copies of certificates, etc. in the report.

When you have completed all the requirements for an Award, submit the Record Book and Award Diary (and report for Gold) to the NYAA Council for endorsement. Gold Award participants are required to attend an interview before receiving the Award. This award must at least completed in 18 months. (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR YEAR 1s and YEAR 2s).

For ACTIVITIES to gain NYAA Award, our club will try our best to come up activities for you guys like Community Service Events, Projects, Skills Learning. But you can go and participate in other learning skills/community service events at your own time. You need not wait for us to approach you to join. Please note, this NYAA award requires alot of discipline and initiative in learning! So before you sign up, ensure that you can afford the time! We do not promise you'll get the award after 18 months. This is still subjective to your own personal time and commitment. It's no guarantee for the award. You join at your own responsibility, but for all of us enjoyment and learning experiences!

We're not targeting any amount of people for this NYAA Award. We're taking as many as we can!

CSCC's connection camp 2008 was a success!
thanks to all the people who put in so much hard work and hours to make this camp a huge success.
the camp that lasted for 3 days bonded all the members of the different sub-committees together, and it showed any student what real fun is.

the whole camp met together on friday evening, despite the upcoming exams and due projects.
everyone was waiting for a good time during the weekend, and boy did we get it.

we played night games on the first evening, and the GPs made sure we had a real team-bonding experience.

its the campers retiring for supper after a night filled to the brim with awesome activities.
after the night activities, everyone retired to their dorms, tired but expectant of a glorious, fun-filled day ahead.

on the second day, the 6 teams rotated around stations, playing versus games with each other, and ended the wonderful afternoon with two mass games at the school of CLS.

this was a game of mass twister, where campers have to place their hands, feet and head on the specific colour-coded spot.
this was the end result: laughter on everyone's faces as they try to squeeze into the small spaces with the other campers.
the second game was another team versus team game.
all 6 teams were situated on each side, where they have to send out pairs to collect the most amount of red cloth strips within the time limit.

Hi there! Connection Camp is over! There are quite a few people I would like to thank for making this camp a success.

Out to all campers, thanks for all the enthusiasm shown during camp. All the fun, joy and laughter. As a camp chief, I’m really blessed to have campers like you!!!~

To all the GPs, thank you for taking time to come down and help out for this camp. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the hardwork and “kio sai” things you all had done for this camp. Thanks for the help and cooperation provided.

To seniors, thanks for your guidance. Esp, Benjamin, Joycelyn, Kelvin, Yiwen, Huisi and Junwei. A big big big thank you!! =D

To my OCs, thanks for all the time used in planning and putting this camp together. Without any single one of you, I wouldn’t be able to run this camp with a smile on my face everyday. =D

CSCC's website has just undergone a facelift, and oh my goodness, isnt't it gorgeous?! (YES, duh~) New features have also been added into the CSCC webpage!

There is now an advertising widget on the page, hosted by nuffnang. There will occasionally be advertisments, and do check them out; some of them are pretty cool.
A poll has also been added along with the advertisment. The poll will usually be on something happening in the club. Do check it out too !

A CSCC forum has also been created! Discussions on club issues will be held there; both the big talk and the small talk.

CONNECTION CAMP IS ON 18 - 20 JULY ( friday - sunday)
the theme for this year is THE NEVERLAND.

please assemble at 7:30pm at SALC ( beside FC 3). campers are to put their belongings from 7pm in:
T1543 - boys bunk
T1544 - girls bunk
before meeting at SALC. DO NOT BE LATE.
Remember to have your dinner before camp. VERY IMPORTANT!*

CLUB WILL BE CLOSE FROM 17 JULY 2008 ( THURSDAY) TO 20 JULY 2008 ( SUNDAY); year ones are not allowed to go to club.

* please note
Groups have to paint the group flag, come up with performance - fantasy, prepare props & group identity before camp.
DO NOT bring food except lozenges like strepsils.
DO NOT wear CLUB t-shirts from FO. strictly banned.
ALL CAMPERS and GPs, please remember to bring your pyjamas ( strictly not camp attire, no FBTs and basketball shorts) for mass game.
utensils and torches are to be labeled with your names.

finally, last reminder( sorry for being so naggy.. haha. :x ) campers who bring their phones will surrender to us before camp and it will be taken care and returned to you when we break camp.

**Those who do not surrender will have to hold FULL RESPONSIBLITY of their OWN valuables. We will not be responsible for your lost handphones and wallets.

CSCC AGM ( Annual General Meeting ) was held on 4 July, last friday.It was a great success and everyone had fun! It's more than just an AGM but it is more of a get together with the whole big wonderful and amazing family!After presenting the various committee heads for 08/09 , we proceed with our refreshments and photoshoot. The pictures had shown you all the fun we had!If you have missed AGM this year, no worries!You 'll just have to wait for 1 more year!
